Track Gear

I came from a smaller school and the transition from Montini to North Central College has been nothing but out of a movie. I've grown as a person a lot since forming on campus me my and roommate have grown a bond so strong that I hope to see him regularly in ten years. The main focus is Track and how that has changed how I've seen the sport. At my old school, I had no indoor track and no jumps coach so I actually had to teach myself how to jump.

Since coming to North Central I've gotten a coach and been able to practice indoors. I am excited to say that I believe that I am growing exponentially and hope that it shows in the first meet. I also have gotten a lot more cool gear like clothing, cool drinks, and supplements.

Visual Literacy and Why it's Important

The basis of visual literacy is the ability to make meaning to pictures or other words from a page movie  or book. When using visual literacy you increase your critical thinking, it makes you think in other ways that you usually don't. It allows for you to question your normal way of thinking and also consider alternative interpretations of the same thing. Another big reason that visual literacy is important is because as a society we use it more now than ever. This is because of emojis, these emojis can mean anything from poop to a persons feelings.

Lastly visual literacy is important in the school world. It allows for hard concepts like math or science to be grasped using pictures or graphs. Teachers also use pictures to teach kids in the younger grades as well to engage students.

Experiences at college

The first week or so of college was a little bit harder than I thought it would be. I had a lot of free time on my hands and I wasn't yet used to it and I also missed a lot of the people I used to be around 24/7. I missed my pets a lot but my dogs the most. Going to college was a little harder emotionally than I thought it'd be.

After the first week things got a lot better I started to meet new people on my floor and we got to hang out a lot. I still had some free time but not as much as I once did. This week was making it a lot easier to be away from my family as I was distracted a lot more. Every week just kept getting better Track had started captain's practice so I got to meet the team. I am now a lot happier than i was the first week just due to less of my time being spent in the dorm.

And finally, my Fantasy Football team started and won the first week. This means that I made some money for me to be able to go downtown and eat with my friends. I can't wait for the for following weeks to come and I hope they just keep getting better.

Micro Theme

Throughout drafting my micro theme I cam across a couple of challenges. My main challenge wasn't writing it the first time, but after getting corrected filling up the three of four lines missing at the end of the page. I got my paper reviewed infant of the class and I was told to deleted most of my final paragraph. This was because I was prolonging the paper, I was told I write like a business major. Which I think is good because I am a marketing major.

One of the easier parts of the paper was picking a topic. I have found myself very close to this topic and that's why I believe that it was easy for me to write about. Since writing the draft I have decided to delete Tik Tok. Hopefully I can stay off the app because after writing the draft I've realized that is pretty close to an addiction at least the closest I've ever been to one.

I also had a hard time not stating facts when talking about a problem. I'm definitely used to writing a lot of research papers so the switch defiantly felt a little weird. I enjoyed writing about this topic and I can't wait to see where my final draft goes.

My Progress through card 101

Coming from high school I was in the normal writing classes, but occasionally I would write in the school paper when I was asked to. I had ...
