Visual Literacy and Why it's Important

The basis of visual literacy is the ability to make meaning to pictures or other words from a page movie  or book. When using visual literacy you increase your critical thinking, it makes you think in other ways that you usually don't. It allows for you to question your normal way of thinking and also consider alternative interpretations of the same thing. Another big reason that visual literacy is important is because as a society we use it more now than ever. This is because of emojis, these emojis can mean anything from poop to a persons feelings.

Lastly visual literacy is important in the school world. It allows for hard concepts like math or science to be grasped using pictures or graphs. Teachers also use pictures to teach kids in the younger grades as well to engage students.
